At a glance

Song is the Chinese restaurant on the eighth floor of Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at Hangzhou Centre. It serves reimagined Ningbo cuisine with seasonal sea-and-mountain ingredients, in a room with five private dining rooms inspired by qin, qi, shu and hua. Executive Chinese Chef Neal Zeng’s signatures include Ningbo marinated crab and crispy pigeon leg with Dahongpao pepper. The restaurant gained one MICHELIN star in 2025, its first year.[1] [2]

Cooking & identity

The cooking is Ningbo in reference and contemporary in presentation: seasonal seafood, cured and fermented flavours, and a lighter plating than the old banquet register. The private rooms frame the meal as a Hangzhou cultural outing rather than a hotel dining room.[1] [2]

The restaurant’s stated philosophy

Paraphrased from the restaurant, its group or a named chef’s statement.

The hotel’s official page describes Song as Hangzhou’s only MICHELIN-starred Ningbo restaurant, guided by seasonality and sea-and-mountain ingredients. It names Neal Zeng and describes his cooking as blending innovation with tradition.

The same page describes five private rooms inspired by the classical arts of qin, qi, shu and hua, with garden views. The MICHELIN Guide adds the one-star distinction.

Why this profile is included

Included through a MICHELIN star, a named Executive Chinese Chef and an official hotel statement on Ningbo cuisine, seasonality and five arts-inspired private rooms. No dated collaboration was verified for this batch; that does not mean none took place. No separate chef page is published in this batch; the chef is named in the profile.[1] [2]

Independent observations

ChefsLanding · · Editorial commentary on the public record

A hotel restaurant that opens with a star in its first year is a strong launch, not yet a tradition. The useful question is whether Ningbo cuisine can stay specific when the room is built for qin, qi, shu and hua.

曾东海(Neal Zeng)的Jin Sha背景 gives him a fine-dining grammar; the risk is that Ningbo becomes a theme. We would follow the crab and the pigeon, not the room names.
